Business Lawyer Anthony R. Caruso Interviewed on CBS, FOX, and PIX TV to Discuss A-Rod Arbitration Decision
PR Newswire
NEW YORK, Jan. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthony R. Caruso, Esq., appeared on 1010WINS News Radio as well as CBS Channel 2 TV, FOX Channel 5 TV, and PIX Channel 11 TV in New York City on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Mr. Caruso was requested for the multiple interviews to offer his legal insight into the recent Major League Baseball arbitration decision involving New York Yankee Slugger Alex Rodriquez, otherwise known as A-Rod.
A-Rod was issued a 211-game penalty by MLB Commissioner Bud Selig, following an investigation into A-Rod's use of performance-enhancing drugs. The suspension was later reduced to 162 games during Saturday's arbitration for his part in the Biogenesis doping scandal. The suspension is the longest in MLB history for a doping case. Rodriguez has vowed to appeal the ruling and says he will take the case to federal court. However, Anthony Caruso commented that, "The standard of review by a federal court is a difficult one to overcome, and A-Rod would have to demonstrate that there was a manifest disregard of the law by the arbitrator below in order for a federal judge to effectively overturn or modify that decision."
Anthony Caruso is uniquely positioned to comment on such a high profile legal dispute because of his extensive experience in sports controversies. As a prominent sports, media, & entertainment attorney based in the New York City / New Jersey area, he previously founded and served as legal counsel to a new sports league, where he later became the commissioner. He is also a former sports agent and currently teaches sports law at NYU. He gained international attention in his representation of Miss New Jersey 2007 regarding a blackmail situation over Internet photos. Mr. Caruso provided all legal counseling and negotiations, strategy, media supervision, and crisis management in that case. He has appeared on various programs including NBC, FOX, MSNBC and E! News, and is routinely requested by the media for his advice and views on current legal issues.
